Carissimi,

 

         oggi,  20 luglio alle ore 3.00 am ora locale, il nostro confratello P.Giancarlo Bossi è stato liberato a Mindanao ed è ora a Manila. Ho parlato con lui al telefono subito dopo la sua liberazione e le sue condizioni di salute sono discrete.

 

A un mese dal suo sequestro lo scorso 10 luglio, con una lettera indirizzata a tutti voi, avevo chiesto che in tutte le case e missioni dell’Istituto si pregasse e si facesse pregare per la liberazione di p.Giancarlo, e così è stato. Una preghiera corale da tutto il mondo, che ha coinvolto tantissime persone, di fedi diverse, ha ottenuto da Dio la grazia desiderata. In quell’invito alla preghiera, invocando l’intercessione della Vergine Maria, concludevo dicendo: “...le chiediamo di poter presto cantare con lei il nostro Magnificat”. Sono certo che ciascuno di noi individualmente lo ha già fatto, ma ci sentiamo in dovere come Istituto di fissare una giornata di lode e di ringraziamento al Signore per il dono della liberazione di P.Giancarlo.

Il prossimo 30 luglio, anniversario della fondazione dell’Istituto, la celebrazione dell’Eucarisita di quel giorno sia offerta come “Grazie” al Signore per il ritorno di P.Giancarlo e come supplica di continua protezione per tutti i nostri missionari.

Il Superiore Generale, la sera del 30 luglio alle ore 20.30, presso la chiesa della casa generalizia, celebrerà  la S. Messa di ringraziamento.

To the Missionaries of PIME

 

 

Dear Confreres,

 

Today, July 20, at 3:00 a.m. local time, our confrere Fr. Giancarlo Bossi was freed in Mindanao and is now in Manila.  I talked with him on the telephone immediately after his release and he is in reasonably good health.  

 

In an earlier letter to all of you, I asked you to pray, and to ask others to pray, in all the houses and missions of the Institute, for the release of Fr. Giancarlo, and so it was.  A chorus of prayers, from every part of the world, involving a great number of people of different faiths, has obtained from God the desired grace.  I concluded that invitation to prayer by invoking the intercession of the Virgin Mary, saying: “…we ask her to be able soon to sing with her our Magnificat.”  I am certain that every one of us has already done so individually, but we feel that it is our duty as an Institute to schedule a day of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord for the gift of Fr. Giancarlo’s release.

 

Therefore, the celebration of the Eucharist this coming July 30, anniversary of the foundation of the Institute, is to be offered as a Thanksgiving to the Lord for the release of Fr. Giancarlo and as a plea for continuing protection for all our missionaries.  

 

The evening of July 30, at 8:30 p.m., the Superior General will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in the chapel of the Generalate.
